Oschadbank and the Energy Company of Ukraine (ECU) have signed a memorandum of cooperation aimed at streamlining procedures and enhancing loan conditions for new energy projects within Ukraine’s cities. проєктів у територіальних громадах України.
Aligned with the state’s energy policy to promote distributed generation, Oschadbank and ECU have established a joint program to simplify financing and implementation of municipal energy initiatives. Under the memorandum, the state energy supplier ECU will perform economic and technical evaluations of the projects seeking funding. Additionally, ECU will provide municipalities with market-driven tools to improve the economic viability and sustainability of these projects, including collaboration within self-generation frameworks, aggregated groups, and balancing groups.
ECU’s comprehensive economic models will serve as a foundation for Oschadbank’s financial assessments regarding the profitability and payback of projects during credit decision-making.
“Based on our experience, one of the main barriers to decentralized generation development is the lack of specialized expertise in most small communities. Leveraging ECU’s expertise empowers communities to evaluate their energy project potential – not only to secure uninterrupted supply or replace it with self-generation but also to generate revenue for local budgets. Oschadbank possesses extensive experience with energy projects of all complexities, holding over 31% market share. We are pleased this expertise will now be available to our community clients through this partnership,” said Yuriy Katsion, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Oschadbank, responsible for corporate business.
“Strengthening the energy security of state enterprises, critical infrastructure, and communities in Ukraine remains ECU’s top priority. We continuously seek and develop market-based solutions to reinforce secure energy supply. By combining ECU’s profound market knowledge with Oschadbank’s robust financial platform, we create conditions for mutually beneficial outcomes in one of the country’s most challenging yet strategically vital sectors,” emphasized Vitaly Butenko, CEO of ECU.
